Initially a joint agreement between the landowners Diageo and The Scottish Wildlife Trust, the reserve is positioned behind the Diageo sites in Cambus and Blackgrange.
A very much hidden gem, the reserve walk is approximately five and a half miles long. The walk itself is very flat and allows viewing of the numerous wildlife within the reserve as well in the river Devon where it flows to meet the River Forth. The reserve is made up of reedbeds, open water and grasslands. On arriving at the reserve, you also pass through an area of wooded land which then opens out to reveal the rivers and the pools.
A variety of wildlife can be found within the reserve as well as various species of warblers, waders, reed buntings and buzzards. Occasional seals, dolphins and porpoise can be spotted in the River Forth. Beaver's footprints can often be seen along the walk, but the beavers tend to be a lot harder to spot.
The wildlife reserve is accessed from Cambus, a small village on the A907 between Stirling and Alloa, just to the south of Tullibody. On entering Cambus, drive straight to the bottom of Station Road where you will find a “T” Junction. Take the right turn and you should be able to park on this dead-end road. You then walk away from village along the southern perimeter of the Diageo site. You pass through the bollards and cross the bridge over the river Devon, from the bridge you will be able to view the weirs on your right in the river and on your left, there is an old iron bridge - then turn immediately left the reserve is sign posted from there on. There is a short walk before the views open up.
