Caponcroft Brewery

Caponcroft Brewery was founded around 1830 at Jamaica Street, Alloa which produced several brews over the period until it's closure around 1902.

Not much information has been found on the brewery or it's owners. 

However it is known that John Thomson was born in 1850. He was married to wife Emily and had one child, Andrew Woodburn Thomson, born in 1881. They lived in Alloa, where John died on the 2nd of January 1894, aged 44. He is buried in Sunnyside Cemetery, Sauchie. Emily died in 1899 aged 48 and is buried in the same plot. His headstone states "of Caponcroft Brewery". The brewery continued until around 1902.

Jamaica Street, Alloa no longer exists. The brewery itself was located roughly where the ring road now runs past the current Asda site (site of the former Ind Coope brewery).
