Fishcross - Looking east from the crossroads
Fishcross is a small village situated to the north of Sauchie at a crossroads on the A908 southwest of Tillicoultry. Fishcross is formerly a mining village and has extended in size, particularly since the mid 1900's. Fishcross was originally built around 1783 to house the workers of the local Iron works and coal mines. It originally comprised of five rows of single storey stone-built houses arranged around the crossroads (now with a mini-roundabout) at its centre. The houses were typical of miner's rows of the time.

An equestrian centre and the SSPCA National Wildlife Rescue Centre are located nearby at Old Sauchie and at Auchinbaird to the southwest there is a partial example of a windmill, built in the early 18th Century to drain the nearby coal pits and later converted to serve as a dovecote. It is situated on a hill between Sauchie and the village of Fishcross, just off Devon Valley Drive, Sauchie. It is part of Clackmannanshire's Tower Trail.
Alloa Coal Company Devon Colliery coal mines, the Meta Brick Works and Devon Iron Works were all once located nearby.
